Hello Ninja.

Last I heard Eaton Compressor (Matt) had put a deposit down on property in the area of the Fairgrounds for expansion of his company and an additional 40 or so jobs to the area. Eaton had talked of expanding a road and water line as some form of aid. The OGDC was apparently late in coming to the table. My guess is this meeting is to offer Matt's side and since it there is a pretty good size ad on page 3 - I suspect he is not happy.

Preble County has spent over a $250,000 on the OGDC and seeking economic expansion and is paying Hal Yoder $35,000 to head the operation. I would not be surprised if there is no money left for helping Matt with that expansion.

This county needs a third local and independent political party, I am personally tired of the two major party machines screwing us over.

My guess is the same here Al.

$250,000. Did the county even get kissed before it got screwed?

Hal Yoder apparently resigned from the OGDC on Thursday. The county turned over their financial support ten days ago. Jefferson & Somers Township trustees have submitted $1000 each to the OGDC and Jackson has approved but possibly not yet turned over the funding.

One of the concerns given by the City of Eaton officials for not funding OGDC when voting to join Business First was how long Hal would be in that position.

There were finally pictures added of a couple buildings to the Preble County section of http://www.ohiosites.com . Given the back and forth over the funding of GIS it was a bit of a surprise that no use of those photos appears. That includes the area in Jefferson Township at the Stateline. I have access through Google Earth to that area (Thanks Indiana) and will add some to a website when time allows.

I do not know what will transpire Monday night over Eaton Compressor. It should be informative, this is a guy who was wanting to stay in Preble and taking a quarter page ad out in the local paper is not a good sign that will occur. I intend to be there and hopefully get a good audio of the meeting for prebleminutes.

/quote] WOW!.... While everyone wants economic development, throwing good money after bad?...... I talked to a developer yesterday who has created jobs and business, improved PC....and dealt with the city and county. We laughed our ass of about the incompetence we've seen, at the same time, expressed fear of the economy and the quality of life as we have known it. While life lessons have taught us to make the best of a bad situation, the developer told me he was headed to the meeting....WITH A BIG GULP AND A BAG OF POPCORN!

Now that Hal has left, I wonder if there will be more support from local entities?

I find it a little hard to believe that no one knew Yoder was going to be leaving 10 days ago. It sounds like the city had some concern a while ago that he was not staying. Shouldn't the County get a refund if the money was given because of the Director? It is really asinine to be spending so much money on economic development and then not have any to help out a local company.
